Description
Chehalem Park and Recreation District hired R&W Engineering to provide electrical and mechanical design services, LEED energy analysis, LEED services, and commissioning services for this community/cultural center pursuing LEED Silver certification.
This 2- story building originally served as an elementary school and this project involved converting it into a cultural center. R&W hired and worked closely with the commissioning agent to provide fundamental and enhanced commissioning to meet LEED’s requirements. R&W has been providing mechanical and electrical engineering services for this project since it began in 2004. The project included the seismic upgrade, demolition of existing HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems and design for new HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems in a phased construction. Work has included public meetings with the park and recreation department to explain quality of existing systems and options for upgrade. This project uses a water source heat pump system, a high efficiency boiler and cooling tower, daylight lighting controls, occupancy sensors for lighting control, demand control ventilation, solar water heating, high efficiency condensing water heater and indirect lighting.
